Learning time

The circulatory system is the name given to the system responsible for transporting oxygen, water, and nutrients around the body. It is made-up of blood, the heart, and blood vessels and it's ideal as a transport system because it's able to reach all of the different parts of the body and reach the millions of cells that its made-up of. Did you know that half of the volume of blood in the human body is made-up of water? Food is broken down via the mouth and absorbed into the blood from the digestive system. It also carries away waste products such as carbon dioxide produced by the body cells. The blood carries nutrients and oxygen needed to fuel the activities of the body's tissues and organs. Oxygen is transported from the lungs via the heart to the body cells and then carbon dioxide is transported back to the lungs via the heart.
