Multiplication Table micro-lesson

A strategy you can use to help solve multiplication equations is by using a multiplication table. This is a table or chart that looks like this. So, to help us learn how to use this, we're going to use the equation 2 x 4. So, we're going to look at the first number in the equation which is 2 and we're going to find that number going up and down along the side of the chart here. The second number in the equation is 4 and we're going to find that number across the top. So, we have the number 4 at the top and the number 2 on the side. We are going to trace those numbers together to see where they meet. They meet at the number 8. This means that 2 x 4 = 8.
