Wind -offshore and onshore micro-lesson

Do you struggle with balancing your kids’ screen time with their education? Say hello to 1Question, the app that solves this problem with a fun twist! Our app lets your child earn screen time minutes in their favourite apps by watching educational videos and correctly answering quiz questions. And the best part? You get to decide which apps to lock behind learning using 1Question.

Learning time

Kids learn by watching short, engaging video lessons.

This lesson is about onshore and offshore wind. Wind is very important in surfing. Wind can make for a great surf or a very challenging one. There are two terms that surfers pay attention to: onshore and offshore. Onshore wind means wind that is moving from out at sea towards the beach or coast. Surfers usually do not like onshore wind because too strong of onshore wind can make the waves bumpy. Sometimes it can be so bumpy it knocks you off the wave, but sometimes it can be good. If waves are weak, onshore wind can pump a little extra energy into the waves giving them enough power to be surfable. Surfers usually like offshore wind or no wind. Offshore wind is wind that comes from the beach and pushes against the waves. You can tell it's offshore because of this spray created by wind hitting the top of the wave and creating this spray. Offshore wind can push against the waves so hard it changes the wave shape. The wind pushing against the wave can make the wave face bigger and steeper which increases the power which more advanced surfers like because they can do cool maneuvers like this.

Recreational screen time

Kids can use the screen time minutes they earned to unlock the apps selected by their parent e.g. games, social media, streaming, etc.

Out of time

When screen time minutes run out, kids are locked out and need to complete more learning in 1Question to earn more time.
