Blood vessels are tubes inside your body that carry blood. There are three main types of vessels. These are arteries, veins, capillaries. Arteries carry oxygen and nutrient-rich blood away from the heart and carry it to the rest of the body. Once the oxygen and nutrients in the blood has been used up, veins take the blood back to the heart. Capillaries are the tiny vessels that connect the arteries and the veins to the body's tissues. Capillaries have very thin walls and through them, nutrients and oxygen are delivered to the cells of the body.
