How many bones are there in the human body? What do you think, 50? 200? 300? There are actually 206 bones in the human body. There are four main types of bones in our body. We have long bones, which are the long bones in our arms or legs that help us to move. We have flat bones which are flat and broad. These are the bones that are found in our ribs or our shoulder blades. We have short bones which are in the shape of cubes. These are the bones that you often find in your wrists or your ankles. They help them to be able to move. And finally, we have irregular bones. Irregular bones are bones that don't fit into any of the other categories. They have their own distinct shapes. These are things like the vertebrae in our spine. Each type of bone has a special function that works together to create our entire skeleton and to give our body shape and structure.
